Originally designed by Jean-Marie Massaud in 2007, the Isidoro trunk-bar embodies the exquisite craftsmanship and Italian creativity that both brands share. Its refined finishes are in walnut-coloured wood, while the inner and outer sections are upholstered in premium Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® Impact Less leather.
Fornasetti’s Ultime Notizie design dresses the trunk-bar in a composition of newspaper clippings, where colourful butterflies flutter and settle. A trompe-l’œil effect is perfectly rendered on the Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® Impact Less upholstery.
The concealed message within the design is engraved on the plaque — a quote from Barnaba Fornasetti: “Do not dwell on the news, because the news is fleeting”.
Poltrona Frau employs a digital printing technique that replicates the effect of silkscreen printing, reproducing the intricate Atelier patterns on leather, ensuring the precise detail and colour accuracy of handpainted Fornasetti objects, as well as a uniquely tactile experience.
Pelle Frau® Impact Less is not only visually stunning but it also aligns with sustainability principles: an innovative tanning process reduces water and chemical usage, while production is partially powered by renewable energy sources.
The re-edition of the Isidoro trunk-bar, along with the 1919 armchair, were created for the renewed collaboration between Fornasetti and Poltrona Frau for Milan Design Week 2025 and are now officially a part of the Poltrona Frau catalogue.
